STUDY AND WORK VISAS

Study and work visas are not issued by the Embassy but they are issued at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration in Windhoek.

Study and work visas can be applied for a maximum period of 6 months.

You can apply through the Embassy.

Do not send the documents by ordinary mail.

Visa application form (Ref No: 3-1/0033 - 2 pages) is available on the Embassy homepage and can be filled online, printed and signed. See Application forms on the Embassy homepage: www.embassyofnamibia.se
It is indicated on the page 2 that this form is for (A) Holiday/Business/Work/Transit visa and (B) Return visa.

Please note that this form is also to be filled in when applying for study visa.

Do not fill in the application form for Temporary work or study permit. It is to be filled in when a person is going to Namibia for a period of more than 6 months.

Study visa:
• Completed visa application form
• Certified copy of passport (Certified copy of passport = a true, correct copy of passport - relevant page only - can be certified for example by Police or Notary)
• Motivation letter from applicant/employer or institution/university where he/she is studying
• Proof of acceptance/registration with an Institution recognized by the Namibian Qualification Authority (NQA) (in case of Minor Field Study: Invitation/Motivation Letter from the Institution/Organization in Namibia connected to Minor Field Study)
• Confirmed Return ticket and Proof of Accommodation
• Proof of means of sustenance while in Namibia
• Deed of Surety (The form is available on the Embassy homepage: See Application forms under Consular Matters)
• Police Clearance Certificate from country of origin (for 6 months visas)
• Medical and Radiological Reports (for 6 months visas)
Work visa:
• Completed visa application form
• Certified copy of passport (Certified copy of passport = a true, correct copy of passport - relevant page only - can be certified for example by Police or Notary)
• Invitation letter from inviter

 

• Motivation letter from applicant/employer or university/college: regarding practical work/internship in connection with studies
• Proof of educational qualifications
• Proof of Tender/Contract
• Confirmed return ticket/itinerary
• Proof of means of sustenance while in Namibia
• Police Clearance Certificate from country of origin (for 6 months visas)
• Medical and Radiological Reports (for 6 months visas)
Payment of handling fee should be made to the Embassy bank account.
Handling fee is 100 SEK.

Please note that ALL bank charges are to be paid by the applicant!

Write your name on payment order and indicate that payment is a handling fee for visa. Handling fee is not refundable.

After payment of handling fee for visa has been made to the Embassy Bank account, the Embassy will issue a receipt and e-mail a copy of the receipt to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration together with the documents.
Original receipt will be sent to the applicant by ordinary mail.

Payment for study/work visa is to be made after approval by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration before the actual issuance.

Visa fee for a period of 3 months or less is 390 Namibia dollars. When
payment is made to the Embassy bank account, visa fee is 400 SEK.

Visa fee for a period of 4 - 6 months is 780 Namibia dollars. When payment is made to the Embassy bank account, visa fee is 800 SEK.

After payment for visa has been made to the Embassy bank account, the Embassy will issue a receipt and e-mail a copy of the receipt to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration.
Original receipt will be sent to the applicant by ordinary mail.

Once a study/work visa has been issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration and received by the Embassy, it will be forwarded to the applicant by e-mail.
